Lessons from Scott Adams’ book and the systems I have for 2021

2020 was quite a year for me and likely for all of you. And when things looked bleak for a while, I relied on my systems to keep me in check. I wrote about systems before and thought I’d revisit the idea of systems for 2021.

A quick primer on systems and goals

Systems are something that you apply intending to do something. For example, you could have a system for healthy eating where you eat healthy every day. Or you could have a system for how you take on projects where you try to build new skills for every project you take on.

Goals are something that you will achieve. One of your goals could be to run a marathon at the end of the next year. Another goal is to become CEO in 5 years. Goals put you in a perpetual state of pre-failure, something that I learned from Scott Adams. You work towards achieving your goal and you may or may not achieve it.
